Monterey Wine Fest and the new Collaboration

There is so much to report. This past weekend we played the Monterey Wine Festival, again collaborating with Vanessa Van Spall and Ian Hisert. Many of the same festival-goers were there from last year and there was even another woman named Grace who befriended me. The new, co-written songs were high-energy and I never knew how fun it could be to have a dance partner on stage until Vanessa showed up. She recently dyed her hair red as well, so my new short hair and our primary colors made for a fun presentation. So it’s all working out right?

Last night the band had a fun practice that involved switching places at a board of butcher paper. WE were writing potential band names. After all, we are no longer a trio and we are seeing the benefits of writing songs as a team. We found that the longer any one person wrote the ideas on the board, the more they started to censor them. For example, the name “Glam Chowder” was put on the board early on. I don’t know that it would have made the list later in the night. With over a hundred and more coming, I’m excited to narrow it down. We’ll keep you posted on the change and as always, we welcome your feedback!

Oh and I forgot to thank the following people for the Starry Plough Show: Peter, John, Bob, Tony, Alice, Gerry, Guy, Brian, Bernadette, Sergio, Iddo, Lindsey, Leah and Kyle.

Thanks for a Great Show at the Starry Plough

The overall consensus last night was that merging bands with Vanessa Van Spall was a good idea. You guys clapped for the completely new songs and the stage felt like a party zone. Thanks to WomenROCK, Bernadette, Zara behind the merch table, Cody on sound, David for stage managing, Lisa for setting it all up, Kristin Hathaway, Melissa Rapp, Aeode and Kate Gaffney for playing with us. Thanks to Jacob, Xylar, Daphna, Chris, Sergio, Iddo, Lindsey, Leah, Alice, Gerry, Guy, Brian and Kyle. Your participation and feedback has been very valuable. Have a great rest of the weekend! We’re headed to Inverness to visit our friend Aram’s cabin and then to Dillon Beach for Claire Westdal’s birthday!
