Lit By Lightning is a California East Bay band formed in 2008 by the merging of two existing Bay Area bands, the Grace Woods Trio and Vanessa Van Spall. Both prior bands were largely piano driven pop, but whereas the Grace Woods Trio had jazz and theater influences and Vanessa Van Spall had more singer-songwriter roots, Lit By Lightning has a more driven and upbeat pop appeal, adding electric guitar and lush synth layers to the mix, giving the band a more power pop and dance edge.

Taking cues from bands such as The Cars, Ben Folds, The Go-Go’s, Steely Dan, Blondie, The Beatles and Fleetwod Mac, Lit By Lightning is still emerging from its cocoon in a flurry of creative energy as it fuses it different styles into a fun, whimsical and quirky sound. The band’s initial focus for 2009 is to gear up for a summer tour that will make its presence felt up and down the West Coast and bring its catchy and captivating sound to new audiences.
